Deserving Volunteer Receives Award from Margaret Tietz

CenterLight’s Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has been proud to accept volunteers from Queens Transition Center for more than 25 years. Students from the school has come to MTC to provide assistance in different departments. As part of the program, a check is awarded to one or two outstanding students each year. This money comes from a memorial scholarship fund established in remembrance of Gerald Hart, former MTC Administrator, to continue his legacy and for the purpose of perpetuating his support of students with limited opportunities. The goal is to assist in giving them a career track and support them in seeking future employment. This year, the check was awarded to Brandon Smith (pictured here flanked by Joel Lichstein, Executive Director and Linda Spiegel, Director of Public Affairs), a deserving student and MTC dietary department volunteer who has overcome many challenges in his life.
